In Ohio, we have child support guidelines, which will, allow a court or an attorney to calculate the amount of child support that may be paid by a child’s parent. Under Ohio law, both parents have a child support obligation. The questions generally boil down to, based upon the amount of parenting time parents have, who will be required to pay and how much? Typically, the parent who earns more money will be required to pay child support. And the amount can be the calculated amount or, if depending on your circumstances, a different figure, known as a “deviation” under Ohio law.
