Columbus Collaborative Family Law Attorney

What is the Collaborative Family Law Process?

The goal of Buck & Fish Ltd. is to promote the collaborative family law process. We believe that divorce does not have to be emotionally and financially destructive, but that a marriage can be terminated with people keeping their respect and dignity.

The Collaborative Family Law Process is simply a better way to divorce. It is a court-less process, meaning that it is completed outside of the court. There is no judge making decisions for you. Instead, you and your spouse make all of the decisions for your family’s transition from a married couple to separate households. And you have the support of a team of professionals to help you make these decisions.

Because the collaborative family law process is a court-less process, it is private. The collaborative family law process allows you minimize conflict, bitterness and anger. You and your spouse each have an attorney. You will also have the assistance of other professionals, such as a financial specialist, parenting specialist and communication specialist. Your professional team will set the tone for the positive exchange of information and for creative thinking and problem-solving. We will help you craft an agreement that is tailor made for you and your family.

There are three ways to terminate a marriage in Ohio: (1) the Collaborative Family Law Process; (2) divorce; and (3) dissolution. When you decided to marry, it was the most important decision in your life. Now, deciding on the process you will choose to terminate your marriage is your most important decision. Do you want a process like the collaborative family law process that promotes dignity and respect and a result that is tailored to your family, or a process like divorce that is emotionally and financially destructive to your family? The choice is yours.
